Engaging the Next Generation
Engaging the next generation is something that all of the political candidates are trying to do this political season. The CBS Saturday Early Show ran an interesting story today on how important it really is to engage those of the under-30 crowd in debate that will shape the future. Generation Engage, a nonprofit organization, founded by Sen. Rockefeller's son seeks to involve the next generation in the political process at the local level.
Generation Engage is a non-partisan, youth-civic-engagement initiative that connects young Americans to political leaders and civic organizations in order to debate about the future. According to the web site, Generation Engage was founded on three principles:

- Young people do not suffer from a lack of interest, but a lack of access.
- Our democracy should be a dialogue, not a monologue.
- The best investment that we can make in the future of our democracy is in young leaders at the local level.
